When the lights came on at the Ramsports Pickleball Stadium in China's Longhua District, history was waiting to be made. On August 9–10, 2025, the very first Pickleball Champions League (PCL) Asia Finals brought together elite club teams from across the continent in a landmark event for the sport.
A Continental Stage
Eight clubs from across Asia—representing China, Malaysia, Vietnam, Singapore, and the Philippines—earned their way to China through rigorous city and national qualifiers. Each team carried the pride of their home country, showing the growing depth of pickleball talent across the region.
The Finals
In the championship showdown, Team Philippines produced a commanding performance, sweeping Team Vietnam 3–0 to claim the inaugural PCL Asia crown. The Philippines’ consistency in men’s, women’s, and mixed doubles highlighted the country’s rapid rise as one of Asia’s pickleball leaders.
Hong Kong and Guangzhou shared third place honors, underlining the competitive strength within China’s Greater Bay Area.
More than Matches
Beyond the thrilling rallies and team spirit, the Finals also served as a knowledge-sharing hub. PCL organized officiating and rules workshops to align tournament standards across the continent—an important step toward professionalizing pickleball in Asia.
Voices from the Podium
Steve Kuhn, founder of Major League Pickleball and DUPR, praised the momentum:
“A few years ago, we were still discussing how to promote pickleball in Asia. Now, we are witnessing teams from multiple countries competing on the court. This is a blend of cultures and the starting point of the Asian pickleball era.”
Alex Yuen, PCL Asia President, added:
“PCL Asia is increasingly becoming a platform that connects the Asian pickleball community. This is only the beginning.”
A Milestone Moment
The 2025 Finals were more than a tournament—they were a statement. PCL Asia proved that pickleball in the region is ready to thrive on a continental stage, uniting nations through sport and paving the way for even bigger competitions in the years to come.
